Fitness for Executives

Being a business executive or professional comes with its challenges. Demanding deadlines, stress and long hours at work are the order of the day. Such a lifestyle does not make it easy to maintain a regular exercise programme or remain focused on keeping a healthy diet.

However, chronic stress and less-than-optimal lifestyle habits will eventually impact your health, well-being  and body shape. Chronically elevated levels of the stress-hormone cortisol lead to abdominal obesity, which can trigger a myriad of other health risks. These include elevated blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. Collectively they are termed as metabolic syndrome, and 25-35% of men are diagnosed with this condition. Metabolic syndrome increases your likelihood of suffering from cardiovascular disease or diabetes in the future.

The key to a sustainable healthy lifestyle is prioritising time for exercise and food mindfulness, but this is not easy when your schedule is jam-packed and you are left with little energy at the end of the day. Ultimately you always fall back on your priorities, and in most cases exercise and mindful eating rank low on the priority list, which means they are abandoned as soon as problems arise.

Why you need to exercise

Regular exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Exercise reduces stress, improves sleep, lowers blood pressure as well as blood sugar and raises your good, heart-protective cholesterol (HDL). It accelerates weight-loss when combined with a suitable nutrition programme and positively affects mood, anxiety and depression, without the side effects of medication (except for the occasional sore muscle). There is also evidence that fit individuals demonstrate higher productivity at work.

The best way to maintain a regular exercise programme is to schedule it, just like any other appointment. Scheduling training sessions with a personal trainer drastically increases exercise adherence, as you make yourself accountable to be present for your workouts. Your trainer, on the other hand, will ensure that your exercise session is productive, so you can reap the full benefits of the time you dedicate to improving your fitness.

Our programmes

We offer fully supervised programmes ranging from 3-12 months. Performing 2 sessions per week of 1-hour duration is a good start to a more physically active lifestyle. However, you can train up to 6 times per week with a personal trainer if you want. Our sessions are on a One-to-One basis, and are held in our private training studio at the Corinthia Hotel St. George’s Bay, St. Julians. No crowds, confusion or fighting for machines. Alternatively, we also offer the possibility to train you in your home if you prefer.
